I will soon be visiting Farmington NM for an Airstream convention. Would like to fish at least a couple days on the San Juan. I'm a novice so I need some suggestions for equipment and drive-in sites. I have the basic gear except good waders and have a couple flies from the local shop, DH

All the guide shops can help you with equipment and advice. Fish and Float is my favorite.

Kind of expensive to buy waders, and you need more than "a couple of flies", as San Juan fish are kind of picky. I agree F&F is your best bet, unless you go with a guide in a boat. That would solve both problems and get you into fish and fun.

Thanks for the help. The water cleared up nicely for a few days. Fished off private property and waded. Majestic Enchantment. Caught some good size German Browns and Rainbows. The local Sportsman's Warehouse in Farmington had everything I needed and experts to help me.

Regards,
DH
