Orange or Yellow floss. |
| Instructions: |
- Place the hook in the vise.
- Secure thread and wrap back to bend.
- Tie in a clump of stacked elk hair for the tail about 1/4" long. Make
sure you start with loose wraps so you don't flare the hair out too much.
- Tie in the yellow floss, gold wire, and a sized brown hackle.
- Wrap the thread forward about 3/4 forward.
- Build a yellow floss body and wind the hackle for ward with even spacing.
- Counter wrap the hackle with the wire rib for stability.
- Trim the hackle, floss, and wire and secure.
- Tie in the orange floss and grizzly hackle about 1/4 back but don't wind forward
yet
- Tie in a clump of stacked elk hair for the tail about the lenght of the body.
Make sure you start with loose wraps so you don't flare the hair out too much.
- Trim the elk hair butts and cover with thread.
- Wind orange floss forward to build head/thorax.
- Trim floss and then wind the grizzly hackle forward with tighter spacing and tie
off.
- Whip fininsh, trim, and cement.

This is probably my favorite lower river dry pattern. It can
look like the big caddis, stone flies, hoppers, and more. It floats well and is a
killer pattern when skipped back across the surface durning both caddis and stone fly
hatches. Also good in orange and black. |
