| Instructions: |
- Place the hook in the vise.
- Secure thread near head and wrap back 4
or 5 wraps.
- Tie in the foam post, trim the tag end
at the back, and thoroughly cover the foam tag end with several tight
wraps.
- Build a thread wedge in front of the
foam post until it is standing up straight.
- Make a few wraps around the base of the
post to prepare for the hackle.
- Tie in a very small black hackle and
wind it parachute style with 3 wraps.
- Tie off the hackle and trim.
- Wrap the thread back to the bend.
- Dub the body forward to the head.
- Whip fininsh and trim thread.
- Trim post to about 1/16".

This is a great pattern
to fish when midges are clustering or mating. Especially when
the clusters are not too big. Even works well when the midges
aren't clutering. Find a current seam, back eddie, or fast
water and watch for the noses coming out. Give it a
try. When it is well-presented it can be deadly!!! |
